Albert Arrieta, a certified rehabilitation counselor, is currently serving the citizens of Oklahoma by providing vocational evaluation services under the auspices of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (OKDRS), while also operating a consulting enterprise providing Medicaid Waiver billing audit and advisory services to residential, vocational, and day habilitation service organizations serving ID/DD populations. Before his three-year tenure as an Oklahoma state employee, Al has spent 35 years serving diverse populations, such as people with intellectual and physical challenges, sensory challenges (vision and hearing loss), traumatic brain injuries, chemical dependence, mental health issues, youth, and adults all coming from disenfranchised and economically disadvantaged communities primarily
within the larger community of approximately nine million people living and
working within the City of New York. Throughout his career, Al has assumed roles, sometimes concurrently and sometimes consecutively, as a residential counselor, community habilitation specialist, job developer/coaching services coordinator, senior program director, and facilitates directors. At the same time, he was working within New York State systems such as Voc. Rehab (ACCES-VR) services, ID/DD (OPWDD) Medicaid Waiver services, NYS low vision services (NYSCB), and NYS TBI Wavier Services (NYS. Dept of Health), Al has led programs providing supported employment services, customized employment services, direct placement services, diagnostic vocational evaluations services, case management services, COVID recovery services, and independent living skills training services. He has led teams of employment specialists, job development specialists, independent living skills training specialists, behavioral intervention specialists, LPN/RN staff, and facilities operations staff.
