This event will include numerous breakout sessions, featuring experts in employment, technology and best practices in services and support. Professionals will offer their experience, knowledge and success in providing individualized employment services to support individuals to choose, get and keep employment. Through the support of conference sponsors, the Oklahoma Department for Rehabilitation Services, Developmental Disabilities Services Division and the University of Oklahoma/NCDET Department, attendees will have the opportunity to:


* Receive answers to difficult and challenging questions

* Build potential partnerships and relationships

* Consider new ideas and employment strategies

* Gain tips to obtain and maintain employment

* Celebrate this year’s award winners!

This year’s theme, Work: Where Talent Meets Opportunity assists us in celebrating Employment First, Employment for All! Employment First is a declaration of both philosophy and policy stating that: Employment in the general workforce is the first and preferred outcome in the provision of publicly funded services for all working age citizens with disabilities, regardless of level of disability. The Employment First philosophy raises awareness to the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities thus advancing integrated employment and career advancement opportunities. The OK-APSE Executive Council invites you to join us to share ideas and strategies, discuss new and promising initiatives, and celebrate Employment First, Employment for All!

Keynote Speaker: Richard Venne

Lunch and Learn! The conference will feature Keynote Speaker, Richard Venne during the lunch hour break; 11:45-1:00. Attendees have the opportunity to purchase a lunch box for $15 when pre-registering; credit card required. Lunch boxes include a sandwich, salad, fruit slices, dessert and a beverage. The Keynote Session will include a variety of successful strategies used to develop employer relationships that lead to very successful placements for individuals with disabilities with good wages and benefits. Venne believes that knowing how we got here is critical to understanding how to move forward. A brief history of the development of employment services for individuals with disabilities will help all attending to understand the lessons learned and how to move forward. This will culminate in demonstrating a very different way of doing business with employers. The purpose of this session is to help attendees understand how to leverage relationships with employers to generate numerous job opportunities for those we serve. Attendees will be challenged to think big, think differently, understand influence points, and leave with practical strategies to employ within your organization.
